ARA-290, also referred to in the literature as Cibinetide, is an 11-amino-acid synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence within the Helix B domain of the erythropoietin (EPO) molecule. Unlike full-length EPO, ARA-290 does not bind the classical EPO receptor and lacks erythropoietic activity; instead, it is studied in the research literature as a selective ligand of the innate repair receptor (IRR), a heteromeric complex composed of the EPO receptor and the common β-subunit (CD131).
